I have been a fan of scifi for as long as I can remember.  I grew up loving Star Wars, I watched reruns of Star Trek, and when I was young got to watch the original run of ST: TNG.  I loved them all but nothing quite hooked me like the movie Stargate did.  I enjoyed that movie so much that I would watch it over and over, sometimes even twice in one day.

When Stargate SG-1 started in 1997, it was love at first sight.  For ten years I watched the team go on adventures through the gate, I fell in love with these characters.  The show grew into something much bigger than the 1994 movie staring Kurt Russell and James Spader.  It grew and even had a couple of spinoffs of it’s own Stargate: Atlantis and Stargate: Universe.

Roland Emmerich is about to erase everything I hold near and dear…

Before the tv series started I wanted more! I felt like there had to be more to the story.  That cannot be the only gate in the universe.  I was right, turns out it was originally planned to be a trilogy, but it just never happened.  I have heard over the years that Emmerich felt like the story was taken away from him, and not too long ago there was rumors of a reboot, but it seems like it actually might happen now.  According to Variety there is active development to produce a reboot trilogy which will be co-produced by MGM and Warner brothers, and will be written by Independence Day:Resurgence writers James A. Woods and Nicolas Wright.

I have very mixed feelings about this reboot.  On one hand Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin made the original movie happen, and I would love to see how they originally wanted the story to go. On the other hand… this will erase years of mythology that the show created.
